Mainframes & Mini-computers: Yes, 2010 is my 40th year as a professional programmer see one definition . Working at Pioneer Sugar's Brisbane office and under tutelage from Arthur Andersen & Co, wrote a Financial Modelling application for the company in Cobol. Transferred to their North Qld offices and liaising with local software contractors, computerised their Payroll and Canepay in Basic Plus.

Working on NCR mini-computers and writing in Cobol, adapted Property Rates, Cash Receipting and Debtors applications for various Local Government Councils. Trained Council staff throughout Qld & NSW.

1986
In 1985 upgraded Qld State Govt Cobol applications & trained staff on the ICL mainframe at Dept of Main Roads. In April 1986, wrote a General Ledger and Debtors program for PCs in dBASE II.

today
PCs: Data Analysis & Database Management using the universal dBASE III PLUS programming language, a database environment written in C. Initially single-user, upskilled in 1992 to WordTech's excellent xBASE multi-user compiler and virtual machine (called Quicksilver), designing and building numerous run-time systems on 16-bit DOS, which later found extra stability running as multi-tasked VDMs inside 32-bit Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. Working with Datacare who supported each installation, Steve wrote feature-rich, integrated applications for hundreds of sites, involving thousands of employees.
Full office systems were thus installed at: Qld Theatre Company then Northern Securities followed by Anglican, AOG, Baptist, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Lutheran and Uniting Church Aged Care Homes, Bible Colleges, 62 of the 63 Blue Nursing (BlueCare) Centres in Queensland (Brisbane excepted), and Christian wholesalers - see below.
In 2001, web enabled Jack Bradford's Brisbane Junior Theatre, then in 2008 Starlight Theatre Co-op.

today
Microsoft SQL Server: Web-based Database Management in Active Server Pages scripts, combining server-side commands in SQL and VBScript with client-side commands in HTML and JavaScript to provide search pages for retail staff. Wholesalers upload their in-house database tables daily for retailer enquiry purposes and download orders subsequently placed. In 2005 Care and Share Products invested in a mobile platform using Dexterra software so their sales team could synchronize their Symbol barcode readers daily via GPRS, and be able to transmit orders from almost anywhere in Australia.

1977-1978 Inspired by their Bookshop in Brisbane, became Townsville secretary for the Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship Int'l and opened the Bookshop in the main street of Townsville. Ran gospel promotions & concerts with Larry Norman, Jamie Owens, Barry McGuire, Honeytree, Chuck Girard, Randy Stonehill and - later in 1984 - Phil Keaggy while promoting Australian artists.
