Streets of your town
Australian indie group - The Go-Betweens - 1988

Sung by Rockhampton boy Grant McLennan (1958-2006) with a prominent backing vocal by Amanda Brown and a guitar solo by bassist John Willsteed. Originally written at Grant and Amanda's apartment at Bondi in Sydney. Released in July 1988.

Probably their most recognised song.

[Chorus]
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
Everyday I make my way
Through the streets of your town

[Verse 1]
Don't the sun look good today?
But the rain is on its way
Watch the butcher shine his knives
And this town is full of battered wives

[Chorus]
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
Everyday I make my way
Through the streets of your town

[Verse 2]
And I ride your river under the bridge
And I take your boat out to the reach
Cos I love that engine roar
But I still don't know what I'm here for

[Chorus]
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
Everyday I make my way
Through the streets of your town

[Bridge]
They shut it down
They closed it down
They shut it down
They pulled it down

[Chorus]
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
Everyday I make my way
Through the streets of your town
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
Everyday I make my way
Through the streets of your town
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
Everyday I make my way
Through the streets of your town
Round and round, up and down
Through the streets of your town
